Biotech plans run on programs, trials and runway.
Most FP&A software is organised around revenue, products and sales regions. A clinical-stage biotech plans around something else: programs, studies, CROs and CMOs, milestone-gated hiring, and how many months of cash remain at each readout. Exigyn models those directly, so a change in enrollment, a manufacturing delay or a financing flows straight through to the cash-out date.

When to move biotech FP&A off spreadsheets.
Spreadsheets are fine when
- You run one program and one budget owner.
- Runway is a single tab you update before board meetings.
- Accruals are a short list you can check by hand.
It's time for a biotech FP&A platform when
- Several programs, CROs and CMOs feed the plan.
- The board asks what a delay or financing does to runway, and the answer takes days.
- Accruals, headcount and runway live in different files that no longer tie out.
- You want AI tools working on the real plan, not on pasted numbers.

Biotech FP&A questions, answered.
What is the best FP&A software for biotech companies?
It depends on stage and complexity, but biotech finance teams generally need software organised around programs, clinical trials and cash runway rather than revenue lines. Exigyn is built for that: 17 prebuilt biotech modules covering runway, clinical budgeting and accruals, headcount and budget vs. actuals, with AI connectors for Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini. Teams comparing options can see Exigyn side by side with general-purpose FP&A platforms at exigyn.com/compare.
What is Exigyn?
Exigyn is an AI-powered FP&A platform for biotech and life sciences companies. It replaces spreadsheet-based runway, clinical trial, headcount and budget models with one connected plan that finance teams and AI agents can work on together. Exigyn is operated by Dark Helix LLC and based in Foster City, California.
How much does Exigyn cost?
Core is $500 per organization per month and Full Suite is $1,500 per organization per month, or $400 and $1,200 per month billed annually. A free 14-day sandbox with a sample biotech company is available with an access code. Platform pricing for custom builds and multi-entity consolidation is on request.
How long does implementation take?
Same day. Exigyn ships with a fully loaded sample company (chart of accounts, headcount roster, department budgets and clinical programs). Teams explore it, then replace the sample data with their own. There is no 3–6 month implementation project.
Does Exigyn replace Excel?
It replaces Excel as the system of record for the plan, not as a tool. The Excel add-in and MCP connectors put live Exigyn data into Excel and PowerPoint, and workbooks built with Claude in Excel can be imported as live models.
Can Exigyn forecast clinical trial costs and accruals?
Yes. The Full Suite includes clinical trial budgeting and forecasting plus monthly accruals by CRO, study and vendor, linked to cash runway so a change in enrollment or timing flows through to the cash-out date.
Which AI tools does Exigyn work with?
Exigyn runs a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini can read and update your plan with your role's permissions, including inside Excel and PowerPoint. The in-app Exigyn agent runs on Claude by default.
Is our financial data secure?
Exigyn runs on SOC 2 Type II infrastructure with role-based access controls. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit, every write is recorded in an audit trail, and Exigyn never trains AI models on customer data.
Can Exigyn help us run finance, not just provide software?
Yes. Exigyn takes on a limited number of fractional CFO and advisory engagements each quarter covering strategy, cash runway, valuation modeling and board materials, with the platform running underneath.
